where does The Sleep Medicine Recruiter™ work

office of sleep medicine recruiterAlthough my office is located in Omaha, NE, I work on a nationwide basis. Yes, often times, mine will be the only light that you see turned on during the night time hours. I’m passionate about what I do! I don’t like to quit and I certainly don’t like to fail. …and I won’t give up. I am committed to working on an assignment until all avenues are exhausted – and then I start over at the beginning again. It’s a process, a cycle, a methodical approach designed to bring about success.

The Sleep Medicine specialty has been around for a relatively short period of time and is evolving at a rapid pace. I’ve been recruiting for 15+ years, so was surprised to learn that with all of the physician recruiters across the staffing industry, none of them have taken up the banner to be a sleep medicine recruiter™. At first, I thought that maybe the niche was just too small to support a full-time recruiter dedicated to the industry. But after further investigation, I found that there is plenty of work for me. With almost 5000 accredited sleep centers and many more non-accredited ones, there is a solid client base. And there is a like number of Sleep Medicine physicians. …and thousands more certified Sleep Techs.

So why was the industry being ignored? Why were the only recruiters in sleep medicine working the industry on a “part time” basis? Turns out that although there are plenty of clients, it is extremely difficult to locate Board Certified Sleep Medicine Physicians. Currently, six different medical boards certify physicians in Sleep Medicine, including ABPN, ABIM, ABP, ABFM, ABOto, and ABA and once certified, there is no uniform lettered designation to help identify certified sleep medicine physicians when doing a search on Google or other search engines.

To compound the problem, sleep medicine physicians come from a variety of clinical disciplinary backgrounds. You can’t just search for a sleep medicine physician the way that you search for a urologist or cardiologist for example. Sleep Medicine physicians might be identified as pulmonologists, neurologists, pediatricians, psychiatrists, ENTs, family doctors…and after the November 2011 certification exam, you might even be looking for an anesthesiologist. They may be board certified in Internal Medicine or Critical Care. Bottom line…there is no easy way to identify Board Certified Sleep Medicine physicians…there is no shortcut. You have to do a lot of legwork, one physician at a time.

So I devoted myself to developing my database. It’s was lot of hard work! I invested my time and money to create the largest private database of Sleep Medicine professionals (physicians and techs) in the world. Today, I’ve grown the database to 5,000+ physicians and a few thousand techs. Along the way I coined the phrase “sleep medicine recruiter™”…I’m proud to be The Sleep Medicine Recruiter™ and I look forward to serving my industry. Whether you are a client that needs to recruit a Sleep Medicine professional or a certified sleep medicine professional that is interested in a career change, I’m your recruiter.

Should you happen to drive by my office late at night and notice a single light turned on…remember, my light is on for you!
